Builder’s Association of Eastern Connecticut 2009Green Showcase Home The Homes at Greenbrier, Oakdale, CT Builder: Jim Pepitone, Ark Ventures
The Builders Association of Eastern CT 2009 green showcase home will be located in an “all green” fourteen-lot subdivision in Montville, Connecticut, called The Homes at Greenbrier, a new sustainable green community. Builder Jim Pepitone of Ark Ventures will be building a Near Net Zero energy home.
The house designs use elements of passive solar heat and cooling. The home will have a southern orientation for the installation of a Photovoltaic system. The home will also feature fireproof fiber cement siding, advanced super insulation methods, a manifold plumbing system, as well as energy star appliances, lighting, and green flooring materials.
The home will be rated by NAHB Green, Build America and Energy Star Standards.
The builder is opening the house to the public on one Saturday each month to demonstrate and discuss various green components that have been incorporated into the building process. Proceeds from the Showcase Open House weekend and green workshops will benefit local charities.
The BAEC's "Eastern Connecticut Showcase Home" Program highlights the experience, professionalism and high standards of Association Builder and Associate members. The program is designed to showcase Connecticut's Build Green home products to the public and encourage philanthropic gifts to charitable organizations, which are chosen by the builder and approved by the BAEC.
